When I was originally considering getting a Boston Terrier as a pet I instinctively thought black and white colors. The reason is that I had never come across any other colors when I ran into them locally where I live. Then as I started to do more research I discovered that there were more than just black and white.

I also found out that not all these Boston Terrier colors are accepted as standard and some are actually frowned upon. And not only does the Boston Terrier have to have these colors but they need to be in a specific pattern on the dog as well. Here is what the Boston Terrier Club of America has to say:.

Brindle, seal, or black with white markings. Brindle is preferred ONLY if all other qualities are equal. Seal appears black except it has a red cast when viewed in the sun or bright light. Disqualify: Solid black, solid brindle or solid seal without required white markings. Any color not described in the Standard. So as you can see not only do the colors matter but having the white mixed into the correct places on your dog makes the difference. Yes there are other colors that you will find possible in Boston Terriers but they are not considered standard.

Its possible to have a splash Boston Terrier that is totally white with just some color on their head or patches of color on their body. A chocolate Boston Terrier color is light brown and sometimes you will hear someone refer to it as liver color. They can have a gray and silver hue and in some instances they may have blue colored eyes like the puppy in the video below.

Due to the fact that this is one of the more popular Boston Terrier colors your going to be paying a premium to buy one of these guys. A lilac Boston Terrier color will have a purple hue and depending on the shade you will hear people calling them lavender, champagne and fawn. After doing my research and discovering that there are more Boston Terrier colors than I had originally known it comes down to affordability for me. Buying a Boston Terrier other than a standard color can get quite expensive.
